Tempest announces acquisition of EZ-Security Business results in Brazil’s largest cybersecurity specialized company

São Paulo, 6 February 2018 – Tempest Security Intelligence successfully completed the acquisition of EZ-Security, one of the country’s leading companies in integrating technology products into cyber security. The acquisition expands Tempest’s operations and creates the largest cyber security company in Brazil.

With the acquisition, EZ-Security becomes the business unit responsible for integrating cyber security technology at Tempest, which now has offices in Recife, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and London, with revenues in excess of R$100 million, 280 employees and more than 250 active clients in countries such as Brazil, England, Switzerland and the United States, as well as Latin America.

Founded in 1999, EZ-Security has 50 employees in the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro offices serving customers in Brazil and Latin America, where it is one of the leaders in Symantec and McAfee products. The company is renowned for its deep expertise in integrating highly complex and added value technologies for corporations, especially in diagnostics, prevention and data leakage.

“The cyber security market has been growing steadily, and has been marked by strong customer demand for convergence of solutions. Thus, the integration of cyber security technologies is essential to provide a comprehensive portfolio, and within our growth strategy, we have been seeking this kind of opportunity to compliment our portfolio of consulting, managed services and products” says Cristiano Lincoln Mattos, CEO of Tempest.

After analysing the market, we concluded that it would make more sense to bring in a company that already had consolidated history and expertise and, most importantly, alignment in the essence and purposes. “ And we found all of this at EZ-Security. There is a lot of complimentary capabilities / solutions that each company offers, as well as their commitment to the ideas proposed. The business has everything to thrive and generate many opportunities for our employees, customers, suppliers and investors, “ says Mattos.

For Fernando Silva, CEO of EZ-Security and now head of the business unit responsible for integrating cyber security technology at Tempest, there was a desire at EZ-Security for growth and expansion into other areas. “Even with market leadership, we knew that to accelerate our growth, we would need a considerable amount of technology and resources to be competitive in consulting and other information security services. In the search for a path, we met Tempest’s shareholders and during the conversations, we saw that there was a great possibility of synergy and success in the new business.“

The acquisition corroborates the growth plan and commitment made by Tempest when the company received R$28.2 million, approximately two years ago from Embraer’s FIP Aerospace venture capital fund, for a minority interest in the company.

With 18 years of experience in cyber security and combating digital fraud, Tempest was born as a start-up incubated at the Center for Advanced Studies and Systems of Recife (CESAR). Based in Porto Digital, CESAR is one of the main and most advanced technology centers in the Country, with a strong track record of technical expertise, integrity, operational maturity and delivery capacity. Tempest believes that cybersecurity is a right in the world, and its main challenge is to offer the best in information security and support the fight against digital crime.

In announcing the acquisition of EZ-Security, one of Brazil’s leading companies in integrating technology products into cyber security, Tempest becomes Brazil’s largest cyber security company with revenues in excess of R$100 million in 2017, 280 employees and a vast list of clients in Brazil and abroad, served from the offices of Recife, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and London.
